I Heart Belfast

Summer arrived in Belfast for an amazing one day at the start of May and we are all hoping that it wasn't our summer.  I'm sure you are laughing at that but seriously the weather in Belfast is not the greatest and we cannot blame it on global warming because it's always been this way! Still it is my little city and I love it!!

In ode to my love for my little city, I have been thinking about starting a photography series called 'I HEART BELFAST' and hopefully giving you a taste for the amazing sights that Belfast has to offer!!!

Got To Love Audrey

"your heart just breaks, that's all.
but you can't judge or point fingers.
you just have to be lucky enough to find
someone who appreciates you
and loves you even more."

The 1975

I have been listening to these guys constantly since I first heard them on the radio several weeks ago.  And I am glad to see I have tickets to go and see them play live in Belfast in October, one day before my birthday so these guys are starting the celebrations for me and they will go on right through until New York City!!!!

Laughter Is The Key

"among those I like,
I can find no common trait;
but among those I love,
I can...
all of them make me laugh."

What Friday Nights Are Made Of!!

Deanes Deli Vin Cafe in Belfast was the location for a work night out on Friday night and what a great night it was filled with bubbles, cocktails, great food and great wine! I was very brave and tried Tempura of Hake with Malaysian Style Curry for mains, a delicious Chocolate Truffle Tart with Fresh Cream for dessert and all was washed down Prosecco, Apple and Elderflower Collins and Chez Deaneo!

If you are ever in Belfast please try all of thee above as they were beautiful!!!

Hurts

I heard this on the radio a few weeks ago and loved it so thought I would share! I could only find the acoustic version but look up the radio version here

One Cocktail, Two Cocktail, Three Cocktail Floor!!

Every so often my friends and I like to go out on what we call a 'Saturday / Sunday Session' and do a little bar crawl around Belfast.  These photos give you a little indication on how the day goes for us!!! And yes we ALWAYS have a great day!! Watch out Belfast, we are going on another one June 22nd!!

Happy Birthday Mum!!

Today it is my mum's birthday so just wanted to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY Mum!!! Love you loads and loads but I'm sure you knew that already

2011

I was sorting through my digital folders on my computer and came across this which I made in 2011 trying to be creative for my blog at the time.  It never made it previously so thought that I would share now, some the great things that happened in the year that was 2011!!!

How was 2011 for you??? Anything great happen???

Fragilty

"love is fragile, she was thinking.
but perhaps the pieces are saved,
the things that hovered on lips,
that might have been said.
the new-love words,
the tenderness learned,
and treasured up for the next lover."

What A Wonderful Weekend!!!!

This past weekend was spent with a brilliant group of friends celebrating one of their big day's in a beautiful setting of Castle Leslie in County Monaghan! More photos to follow!

Tiesto & Allure

Nothing like a good bit of dance music first thing on a Monday morning to wipe the cobwebs of the weekend away!!

I can't actually remember where I heard this but I'm glad that I bookmarked, I hope you are too!!!

King Charles

A few Friday's Leanne and I went to a  gig in Stiff Kitten in Belfast.  We listened to Jessica Tonder, the amazing Runaway Go and last but certainly not least King Charles!

As you can see from above there wasn't many pictures taken! Unfortunately my iphone decided there was enough photos and videos in it's memory and did not want anymore!

Maybe, Just Maybe

"and maybe, just maybe, her heart needed to be broken.
broken and shattered and stomped into pieces.
then she could finally look down at the pieces,
study each one and spend some time getting
to know the person she'd become.
and when she finally had all the pieces back together again,
a little crooked, a little jumbled but sealed firmly with love,
she'd realized she was more beautiful than ever.
because this time, she would love herself."

Mat Zo & Porter Robinson

Another weekend cobweb duster for you or might in fact bring back some good memories from the weekend past! Whatever this does, I hope you enjoy!!!!

Fate, Karma, Destiny

I recently rediscovered this after filing it away for future use! I still don't know what to take from it but thought that I would put it out there as I think there is definitely some true in it.

Sorry I cannot remember the source - if this is your writing please get in touch and I will be sure to link accordingly

Do we have free will or are we held to the ransom of a greater force? Whether it be fate, karma, destiny or kismet, the reason why so many people have difficulty reaching a conclusion is because they think it’s one or the other. The truth is, it doesn’t actually matter.

People are so determined to find a one dimensional and digestible answer but the difference lies in perception.

I don’t see it as my job in life to answer the question, I see it to be lived as if nothing is set.

I live my life as if I have free will but I understand that events arrive to me often without me having any say in them. All I can do is choose how to respond to them. The source of those events really don’t concern me; what concerns me is how I use my power of free will in that moment to override my reaction.

The trouble with fate is that it can leave you with a feeling of helplessness. I’ve heard people say that they are destined to be broke and to be a loser. Are you someone who thinks like that or do you know of anyone that does?

If you are, then through the power of choice, you are setting the outcome of your future events more so through your attitude than some predestined power.

Here’s a two step process by which I look at this whole debate in a way that serves me.

1. All events are fated in some way. That could be a short term fate relating to decisions recently made or through some higher power and unseen force. I don’t have control over the events.

2. I have absolute power of my attitude and the way I choose to respond to those events. At all times I have the power right now to decide how I think. I can choose to be grateful and cultivate the attitude of a decision maker.

There are also people who think that God has a plan for them. I don’t buy into that. Yes I do believe in a higher power but I believe the greatest gift bestowed to me by that higher power is the gift of thinking freely.

I don’t believe we are accidental beings; we were meant to live life on purpose. I have the gift of free will in world where fate and destiny exist.
